Exö-Squad Röknauts Teaser

The new Exö-Squad Röknauts are heading your way! I’ve designed this logo to create a slab of colour and angles and intricate knotwork that’ll get you as excited about the new Exö-Squad miniatures as I am. The Kickstarter pre-campaign page is live now, so you can be first in line to grab these new Space Dwarf armoured chonks. Keep reading for an exclusive look at the first new Exö-Squad trooper.

You don’t have to wait until the Kickstarter to get new Röknaut models though. I sculpted this special Highlander edition of Rökthane Schiltron Toothcutter for Salute earlier this year, and have added him to the webstore.

All Röknaut deployments are regarded with a degree of ritual, to the point that the leaders will occasionally switch elements of their standard-issue military gear for clan regalia. Rökthane Toothcutter Schiltron stands on such ceremony, starting the Naudor Thronesworn’s most critical campaigns with rökilt and fly plaid proudly displaying the aramid-weave patterning of his grand-forebears’ clan. His headdress denotes his previous service with the elite Sapphirehalf units, and is adorned with a pair of feathers commemorating the Naudor Thronesworn’s victories over the Aquilon Empire.

This year I’ve been taking the Röknauts to trade shows up and down the country, with not just Vapnartak in York, but Salute in London, UK Games Expo in Birmingham and Border Reiver in Gateshead.

It was fantastic to meet so many of you – thanks to everyone that stopped by to chat, pick up some minis, and generally enthuse about the 1990s and/or wargaming. If you couldn’t make it and want to see what it was like – the lads at OnTableTop interviewed me.

I hope to do all these shows again in 2026, and I’ve also added Lead & Steel in Sheffield and Chillcon in Sheffield(what can I say, I’m a Sheffield lad by birth) to the calendar – hope to see you there.

My last show of 2025 is on Saturday 29th November – our friends at Pendraken are hosting their annual Battleground wargames show in Middlesbrough. It’s free to get in!

The whole gamut of wargaming companies will be there, from local legends Keelman Miniatures with their range of Anglo-Scottish, Border Reiver and Jacobite miniatures, through to international miniatures giants like Warlord Games who make everything. There’s demonstration and participation games from the like of Ardhammer covering the Seven Years War with 30mm German Flats, and Edge of Empire doing a big Horus Heresy siege. There’s also a big bring and buy that I’ll be rummaging through when I get a moment away from the my boxes of Space Dwarfs.

Come to the Ontos stand and you might even be able to catch a glimpse of the Exö-Squad prototypes…

Dark Sun’s painted a Rökthane Schiltron in an awesomely fetching golden yellow and green scheme – comes with a strong Loki vibe. (First time I’ve seen one of my minis on a those epically popular Handiwork Games backdrops too!). Thanks, Dark Sun! Look forward to seeing what else you do.

If you’ve got a Röknaut you’d like to share, send it to chris@ontosgames.co.uk or tag me on Instagram or Bluesky!

Towards the centre of the Krowntaker system, harsh solar flares smash across the surfaces of the dirigium asteroid belts. Spaceships might be able to approach these irradiated clusters of rocks – but to venture onto the surface and discover the the wealth of the galaxy’s azoic aeons needs the sturdiest void-hardened personal armour the Rökanuts have ever engineered – the Radwulf Exö-Suit.

I am over the moon (well, the asteroid field) to start teasing you with this first image of the super-chunky Röknauts. I’ve been dying to sculpt Exö-Suits since day one of the Röknauts project, but needed to establish the scale of a standard Bedrök trooper, the design direction of the armour and wargear and the feel of the range as a whole before tackling the mega-armoured elite. Wider than they are tall, these Dwarven slabs are coming to rök your world.

Rök on!
